Stop Reasons  
   

This is a list of different stops associated with your vehicle(s) that must be cleared before you can process your renewal or a particular vehicle.

  • No Service Stop
    DMV has placed your account in a Bad Credit status. This is applied when a bad check has been given to DMV.

  • Child Support Stop
    DMV has been notified by the customer's county courthouse that child support is due.

  • Correspondence Stop
    DMV has detected a problem with this vehicle's title records or plate.

  • County Tax Stop
    DMV has been notified by the customer's county courthouse that personal property taxes are due.

  • Emission Stop
    DMV Enforcement Section has placed a emission inspection stop against a vehicle.

  • Insurance Stop
    DMV has received a Notice of Cancellation of Liability Insurance from your insurance company.

  • Stolen/Stopped Vehicle Stop
    DMV Enforcement Section places a Stolen Vehicle Stop on a vehicle when they are notified that a vehicle has been reported stolen.
    DMV Enforcement Section places a Stopped Vehicle Stop on a vehicle when the vehicle is sold by a mechanic or lien storage sale and sold at public auction or judicial proceedings, etc.
  • FHVUT (Form 2290)
    A Federal Heavy Vehicle Use Tax Stop has been placed on a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 55,000 pounds or more when a current Form 2290 has not been received.

  • Bad Debt Stop
    A Bad Debt Stop has been placed on the customer's account showing that money is owed to DMV.

  • Cash Only Stop
    A Cash Only Stop is placed on a customer's account that indicates only Cash, Money Order, or Certified Check may be accepted as payment.
